A section of YCP supporters has taken to social media to express disappointment with Sakshi, the media house widely associated with the party.
This time, their criticism is not directed at political rivals but at what they describe as hidden “black sheep” within the organisation who are allegedly softening reports that could portray the ruling alliance in a negative light.
The debate began after reports emerged that investigators had allegedly found evidence against model-actress Kadambari Jethwani.
She is linked to a high-profile case involving the suspension and arrest of four IPS officers, who were accused of acting at the behest of the then YCP government and harassing Jethwani.
The officers continue to face legal proceedings. However, critics claim that Sakshi did not report the alleged evidence against Jethwani.
They argue that the development could have strengthened the narrative about the suffering endured by the officers and raised fresh questions over the case linked to the previous YCP government.
In contrast, Eenadu carried the development, though only as a small report on its inside pages. This surprised many YCP supporters.
Ironically, several of them ended up sharing the Eenadu clipping on social media and questioning why they had to depend on a newspaper they usually criticise for a story they expected Sakshi to publish.
Another issue raised was Sakshi’s coverage of an alleged assault involving a TDP leader in Guntur.
Critics argued that the headline merely referred to an attack on a woman while giving prominence to the arrest of nine TDP leaders.
They alleged that the report failed to highlight the more serious accusations in the case, including the claim that the woman was stripped of her clothes.
These reactions have fuelled speculation among YCP supporters that certain individuals within Sakshi are deliberately downplaying stories that could create negative publicity for the ruling alliance.
The allegations are now being widely discussed on YCP social media platforms as well as in broader political circles.
