Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly considering replacing MLAs in several constituencies with new candidates, if recent developments are any indication.
According to reports, Naidu has initiated a fresh organisational reshuffle by appointing new constituency in-charges in several Assembly segments across the state.
The move is widely seen as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its organisational network ahead of the upcoming local body elections and future electoral battles.
In the first phase, Naidu began appointing constituency in-charges in Assembly segments represented either by alliance partners or YSRCP legislators.
The newly appointed leaders have been tasked with strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level and ensuring better coordination with NDA allies.
The government is expected to conduct local body elections in the coming months, prompting the TDP leadership to ensure that every constituency has an active organisational structure in place.
Special attention is being given to constituencies where the party does not currently have a TDP MLA.
As part of the reshuffle, J B Srinivas has been appointed the new TDP in-charge for the Tirupati Assembly constituency, which is currently represented by a Jana Sena Party MLA.
The appointment follows the elevation of former in-charge Sugunamma to a nominated post.
Similarly, former MLA Pilli Ananthalakshmi has been appointed the TDP in-charge for the Kakinada Rural Assembly constituency.
She previously won the seat as a TDP candidate in 1999 and 2014 and remains an experienced party leader. The constituency is currently represented by Jana Sena MLA Pantam Nanaji.
In the next phase, the TDP leadership is also considering appointing additional organisational in-charges in constituencies represented by legislators whose functioning has become controversial or where dissatisfaction has been reported.
The party leadership is also finalising appointments for several other constituencies where organisational positions remain vacant.
According to party sources, new in-charges are expected to be announced for Visakhapatnam North, Etcherla, P Gannavaram, Anaparthi, Avanigadda, Vijayawada West, Tamballapalle, Pithapuram and Kaikaluru Assembly constituencies.
The exercise is being viewed as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s grassroots network and improve coordination within the NDA alliance ahead of the next round of elections.
