YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has carried out changes in the party’s regional organisational structure, reallocating responsibilities among several senior leaders.
As part of the reshuffle, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Y V Subba Reddy, who was earlier serving as regional coordinator for the erstwhile combined Krishna and Guntur districts, has now been restricted to the combined Guntur district.
There had been speculation that Subba Reddy was trying to gain control over the North Andhra districts, but Jagan reportedly did not entertain such attempts.
Former minister Kurasala Kannababu has been retained as regional coordinator for North Andhra, covering Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts.
Former MP Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy has been appointed regional coordinator for the combined Krishna and Prakasam districts.
Former minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao, who was earlier responsible for the combined Prakasam and Nellore districts, has now been assigned responsibility for Nellore district alone.
The party has also appointed Beerak Surendra Babu, from the Chirala Assembly constituency in Bapatla district, as president of the YSRCP’s state handloom wing.
Jagan has also constituted a committee to support candidates who allege irregularities in the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process.
A DSC Protest Committee has been formed, along with a legal cell to pursue the issue through legal channels.
The protest committee includes MLCs Lella Appireddy, Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy and Tamadam Kalpalatha, along with YSRCP state student wing president Panuganti Chaitanya and student wing zonal working president Ravichandra.
The legal cell includes Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, Malasani Manohar Reddy, Sudarshan Reddy and G V S Kishore.
The appointments are aimed at providing organisational and legal support to candidates who claim they were adversely affected by irregularities in the recruitment process.
Senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana has been given responsibility for Kakinada, Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari and Eluru districts.
Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has been appointed regional coordinator for Kadapa, Annamayya, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Tirupati and Chittoor districts.
The restructuring assumes significance as the YSRCP attempts to strengthen its grassroots organisation and prepare for the political challenges ahead.
