Revanth Goes All Out to Probe Alleged BRS Land Irregularities

The Telangana government headed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appears determined to investigate alleged irregularities involving government and private lands linked to senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders, including former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and members of his family.

The government has constituted a special committee to examine 16 land-related issues involving KCR, K T Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, former ministers G Jagadishwar Reddy and Gangula Kamalakar, MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others, including their family members and associates.

The inquiry will cover a wide range of land categories and related matters, including government land, assigned land, ceiling-surplus land, Bhoodan land, jagir and inam land, forest land, land acquisition and rehabilitation, water-resource areas and land records.

The panel will also examine whether relevant laws, rules, government orders and official instructions were followed in the transactions and land-related decisions under scrutiny.

The government order specifically provides for an inquiry into alleged irregularities and possible violations, with responsibility to be fixed where warranted.

Among the issues listed for examination are lands linked to KCR, his family members and associates in Erravelli, Markook and Venkatapur areas of Siddipet district. The committee will examine the nature of the lands, ownership records, transactions and related documentation.

Land-related matters associated with Harish Rao, his family members and associates near Ranganayaka Sagar in Ramancha of Chinnakodur mandal, as well as lands in Aziznagar of Moinabad mandal in Rangareddy district, have also been included in the inquiry.

The committee will also examine land issues involving KTR, his family members and associates, including matters concerning Satabisha Agro and other entities in Janwada of Shankarpally mandal.

The panel has been authorised to obtain records, documents, data, information and other assistance from government departments, heads of departments, district Collectors, local bodies and corporations. It may also submit interim reports on specific issues whenever required.

A Sridevasena, Commissioner of Collegiate and Technical Education, has been appointed chairperson of the committee.

Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, Special Secretary dealing with Registration and Stamps, will serve as convenor, while Jangaon Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and Collectors of the districts concerned will be associated with the inquiry.

The move marks a significant escalation in the Revanth Reddy government’s scrutiny of land transactions linked to senior BRS leaders. However, the allegations remain under inquiry, and the committee’s findings will determine whether any violations actually took place.
