At present, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is considered the richest Chief Minister in India. As per his declared assets, Chandrababu has assets worth around Rs 931 crore.
However, this position may soon change after D K Shivakumar takes oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Once he becomes the CM, Chandrababu Naidu may move to the second position in the list of richest Chief Ministers.
The reason is simple. D.K. Shivakumar’s declared assets are much higher than Chandrababu Naidu’s.
As per the election affidavit filed by D K Shivakumar, his total assets are worth around Rs 1,413 crore. This is nearly Rs 500 crore more than the assets declared by Chandrababu Naidu.
With this, D K Shivakumar is likely to become the richest Chief Minister in the country.
So, Chandrababu Naidu may lose the tag of richest CM, not because his assets have reduced, but because another leader with higher declared assets is set to become Chief Minister in a neighbouring state.
Interestingly, another name has also recently entered the list of richest Chief Ministers. That is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.
The star hero, who contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections recently, declared assets worth around Rs 648 crore in his election affidavit. A major portion of his wealth is reportedly in deposits.
Vijay became Chief Minister in his very first election and has now secured the third position among the richest Chief Ministers.
With Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers occupying the top three places, it is interesting that three neighbouring southern states are now dominating the richest CM list.
