Former Rajya Sabha member and ex-YSR Congress Party leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy has fuelled fresh political speculation by announcing that he will soon unveil his future political plans.
Sai Reddy had earlier resigned from both the YSRCP and his Rajya Sabha membership, declaring that he would stay away from active politics and focus on agriculture. Despite that announcement, he has continued to comment on political developments through social media.
His posts have frequently criticised both the ruling Telugu Desam Party and his former party, the YSRCP, while largely refraining from targeting Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Some of his recent posts have also reflected themes associated with Hindutva, prompting speculation about his possible political alignment.
Initially, there was widespread speculation that Sai Reddy might join the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, that possibility reportedly did not materialise because of the BJP’s position as a coalition partner in the Andhra Pradesh government.
This subsequently gave rise to reports that he was exploring the possibility of launching a new political party. More recently, rumours also surfaced that he could return to the YSRCP.
Seeking to end the speculation, Sai Reddy issued a statement on social media.
“My political re-entry, future plans and programme of action will be announced shortly at a meeting with journalists. I hold independent views and will take my decision with self-respect, free from any pressure, inducement or influence, keeping only the interests of the people of the state in mind,” he said.
His statement has intensified speculation over whether he is preparing to float a new political outfit, what its agenda would be and which political parties it would target. Political observers are also assessing the possible electoral impact of any new formation.
According to sources, Sai Reddy has already begun preliminary organisational work across the state. He is believed to be holding consultations with key political leaders at the district and Assembly constituency levels.
Sources further claimed that he has been interacting with former bureaucrats and influential non-political personalities to build support for a new political platform.
Plans are reportedly being drawn up to organise preparatory meetings and public consultations across Andhra Pradesh before a final decision is taken.
The proposed political platform is expected to focus on issues affecting youth, farmers, women, employees and the middle class.
Sai Reddy reportedly aims to position the new outfit as an alternative political force to both the ruling TDP-led coalition and the principal opposition YSRCP. However, he has not officially confirmed plans to launch a political party.
