Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has challenged BJP leaders to first make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree certificates public before questioning the funding of his own education in the United States.
Dipke has emerged as a prominent face of the recent student protests over examination paper leaks and unemployment.
The Cockroach Janta Party, which began as a satirical youth movement on social media, gained wider attention during the protests against alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
The protests created considerable pressure on the Central government and eventually led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The government also announced measures to reform the examination system and strengthen action against paper leaks.
Amid the growing influence of the movement, Surat-based RTI activist Amit Tiwari reportedly sought an investigation into how Dipke’s education at Boston University was financed.
He questioned whether Dipke’s family income was sufficient to meet the cost of studying in the US.
Responding to the controversy, Dipke said he had no problem revealing details about his education or its funding. He stated that he received a scholarship from Boston University and also took an education loan to meet his expenses.
However, he challenged BJP leaders to first show the degree certificates of their “emperor”, an apparent reference to Prime Minister Modi.
Dipke said he was ready to produce his scholarship documents and education-loan letter after the Prime Minister’s academic records were made public.
He also questioned why BJP supporters were so concerned about his studies and the source of his educational expenses.
The controversy over Modi’s educational qualifications is not new. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier sought information about the Prime Minister’s academic records under the Right to Information Act.
In August 2025, the Delhi High Court ruled that Delhi University was not required to disclose Modi’s academic records, holding that educational qualifications were personal information protected under the RTI law.
Dipke’s latest challenge has now brought the Prime Minister’s degree controversy back into public discussion, even as questions continue over the funding and political direction of the Cockroach Janta Party.
