There is strong talk in YSR Congress Party circles that senior leader and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana from Vizianagaram district may step away from active politics due to health reasons.
For the last two months, Botsa has not been seen much before the media. He last appeared in public in the first week of last month.
Even then, while responding to allegations made against him by minister Atchannaidu, Botsa became emotional and broke down.
It is learnt that Botsa had also faced some health issues recently and underwent treatment in Hyderabad. Since then, there has been discussion over whether he will continue to take an active role in politics or not.
According to sources, Botsa’s family members are advising him to stay away from active politics and focus on his health. Botsa too is reportedly not showing much interest in being as active as he was in the past.
This has led to several reports about his political future. Party sources say the YSRCP high command may respect Botsa’s wish if he decides to reduce his political activity.
There is also talk that the party leadership may allow Botsa’s nephew Chinna Srinu, who is the Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad chairman and district YSRCP president, to handle the party affairs in the district.
However, the question now is what will happen to Botsa’s political heirs. It remains to be seen whether anyone from Botsa’s family will actively enter the field in the next elections.
Whatever may be the final decision, there is strong talk at the district level that Botsa has almost retired from active politics.
