The irrigation department of Andhra Pradesh is shifting to Vijayawada from Hyderabad. All senior officials including the engineer-in-chief have been asked to operate from Vijayawada by the Irrigation Minister, Devineni Uma Maheswar Rao.
Uma also said that he will not Hyderabad anymore except for cabinet meetings and Assembly sessions. This is perhaps a reflection of the deep emotional divide between the people of both regions that will not heal in a long time to come.
Uma was a champion for Samaikhyandhra and he is one of those Ministers who bitterly resents KCR.
He has become the first Minister to give such orders and given KCR’s warning to stop electricity and water to AP institutions in Hyderabad, it would not be surprising to see more such ministries shifting in future.
