Anti-Telangana politician Jagan Mohan Reddy today courted arrest as he marched towards Parliament to protest against the creation of the new state by dividing Andhra Pradesh.

The protest by Jagan and nearly his 4,000 supporters in Delhi comes ahead of the Telangana Bill that will be up for discussion in Parliament on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, hinting at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Jagan said that the Congress was taking the decision to divide the state just to make one person the Prime Minister. He also stuck to his stand that he will support any party which is for a united Andhra.

Jagan also met senior BJP leaders and said that his party would support any party that keeps Andhra united. “That is my agenda. We have tried to prevail on the BJP. If the state is divided we are doomed. Jagan alone is nothing, I need the support of everyone. Congress has 200 plus, BJP has 100 plus MPs,” he said.

The Telangana bill will be taken up in Parliament tomorrow and the government is determined to get it passed, even in the middle of protests if it can’t be discussed, sources have told to media.

The resolve, on a day the BJP warned against passing the proposal without a proper discussion, is likely to escalate the political row over Telangana.
