Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been stubbornly going ahead with the redesigning of irrigation projects, seems to have decided to “re-design” his own party as well from top to bottom.

According to sources in the party, KCR wants to overhaul the party structure by infusing new blood at various levels and weeding out outdated and unwanted leaders from the party and the government.

Based on his own internal survey, the TRS chief is learnt to have come to the conclusion that he would have to drop at least 30-40 sitting MLAs and give tickets to new faces in the next elections, an experiment done by Telugu Desam Party founder president N T Rama Rao in 1985.

Apparently, KCR does not want to give any second chance to the non-performers in the party. Since the party is on a firm footing, the TRS chief will care a damn if there is a revolt from the disgruntled elements.

“He will conduct an open referendum on the performance of the MLAs and only those who pass out in the test would get the tickets again. According to an estimate, at least 35-40 MLAs might lose their tickets,” a party sources said.
