Narendra Modi has issued a directive to the Environment Ministry asking it to clear all pending files within a span of ten days. Although not an impossible job, it is not easy either!
But just for the record, projects in the mining and construction industry running into thousands of crore have been stalled for want of clearance from the environment ministry in the previous dispensation.
Assuming that even 25% of the projects are given approval in the next ten days, it could herald a pumping of exorbitant money into these sectors which would have an extremely good impact on the economy.
If the ministry manages to deliver on Modi’s directive, it would be a refreshing break from the policy paralysis that has affected the country in terms of bureaucratic apathy and red-tapism. In short, it would be a harbinger of positive times ahead for the nation.
