Ever since ‘education’ became the most lucrative form of business, what seems to have taken a complete backseat is the safety of the children.
In a recent accident involving the school bus of a private school in Prakasam district, a nine- year old boy lost his hand after the bus plunged into an agricultural field. Expectedly, negligent driving was responsible for the mishap.
The horrific accident in Telangana in which a train rammed into a school bus at a railway crossing is still vivid in memory. In that incident too, the driver was at fault.
While we, as a society have become completely immune to corruption at each and every level, it is no excuse for jeopardizing the lives of our innocent children.
If the authorities go easy on the managements of the private schools in return for the ‘funding’ provided by the latter, then we shall continue to pay a heavy price or rather, the toddlers whose destinies are cruelly being cut short by such apathy completely unbecoming of a humane society, administration or ‘school management’.
