After a prolonged delay of more than two and a half years, the Congress government in Telangana headed by chief minister A Revanth Reddy announced appointments to several long-pending nominated posts.
In all chairpersons for 17 corporations and vice-chairpersons for 11 corporations have been appointed on Wednesday. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Mahesh Kumar Goud released the list of leaders selected for the positions.
The appointments come amid growing expectations among Congress workers and leaders seeking representation in nominated posts after the party came to power in the state.
The Congress government had earlier filled several nominated positions in phases, and the latest appointments are being viewed as part of an effort to accommodate leaders from various social and community groups.
Among the major appointments announced are: Baswaraju Srinivas as Chairman of the Brahmin Welfare Parishad, with Ponnada Subrahmanya Prasad as Vice-Chairman; Bandi Ramesh as Chairman of the Kamma Corporation, while Paruchuri Murali was named Vice-Chairman.
While Gattu Thimmappa was appointed Chairman of the Valmiki Boya Corporation, with Boya Nagesh as Vice-Chairman, Raghunath Yadav was named Chairman of the Yadav Corporation, while Gajji Bhaskar Yadav became Vice-Chairman.
Gunja Renuka was appointed Chairperson of the Vaddera Corporation, with Battula Venkatesh as Vice-Chairman. Doodem Venkata Ramana was named Chairman of the Handloom Corporation, while Jakkani Anita became Vice-Chairperson.
Charan Kaushik was appointed Chairman of the Livestock Development Society, while Professor Venkata Ramana was named Chairman of the Telugu Academy.
Dr. Ajay Kumar was appointed Chairman of the Washermen Cooperative Corporation, with Bangaru Babu as Vice-Chairman. Chandrasekhar Goud was appointed Chairman of the Geetha Karmika Cooperative Corporation, while Kesam Nagaraju Goud became Vice-Chairman.
Gongari Venkateshwarlu was named Chairman of the Perika Cooperative Corporation, with Budgam Srinivas as Vice-Chairman. Sanga Venkat Rajam was appointed Chairman of the Mera Cooperative Corporation, while M. Lakshminarayana became Vice-Chairman.
Bomma Sriram Chakravarthy was named Chairman of the Munnuru Kapu Cooperative Corporation, with Allam Bhaskar as Vice-Chairman.
Gudoori Srinivas was appointed Chairman of the Padmashali Cooperative Corporation. Juvvadi Nursing Rao was named Chairman of the Velama Cooperative Corporation.
Political observers view the appointments as part of the Congress party’s strategy to strengthen caste and community-based representation ahead of future electoral battles in Telangana.
