BRS leader, Telangana statehood movement activist and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital. He was 52.
Hospital sources said he breathed his last at around 12:50 am despite receiving advanced medical treatment.
Sudarshan Reddy was a prominent BRS leader in the Narsampet region of the erstwhile Warangal district. He enjoyed goodwill not only among party workers but also among the public.
His death is being seen as a major loss to the BRS.
Sudarshan Reddy had been a strong follower of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao from the beginning and was also close to the KCR family. He was widely known as a people-friendly leader.
Former minister Harish Rao had earlier said that doctors were making every possible effort to save Sudarshan Reddy.
His medical reports were sent to specialists in the United States and leading hospitals in London. Senior doctors in Hyderabad were also consulted.
Harish Rao said Sudarshan Reddy’s heart had stopped functioning for nearly 30 to 40 minutes on the day he fell seriously ill. As a result, oxygen and blood supply to the brain were interrupted.
Doctors reportedly conducted several brain-related tests and shared the reports with medical experts in the US and London. Treatment was provided based on their advice.
Harish Rao clarified that Sudarshan Reddy had not suffered a heart attack.
According to him, the problem was related to the lungs. Sudarshan Reddy had reportedly not taken his prescribed haemoglobin-related tablets for nearly 20 days.
This allegedly caused his haemoglobin levels to rise and led to a blockage in the blood vessel carrying blood from the lungs to the heart.
His lung function was severely affected, which later placed pressure on the heart.
Despite the efforts of doctors in India and abroad, Sudarshan Reddy could not be saved.
