Three members of a Hyderabad family were killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident in California, United States, according to information received by their relatives on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Monday night, Indian time, when the vehicle in which the family was travelling collided with another vehicle.
The deceased were identified as Nazia Salma and her son and daughter. Her husband, Shaik Naveed, and their younger daughter sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a hospital.
Naveed, a native of Saidabad in Hyderabad, moved to the United States around 10 years ago. He was travelling with his wife and children when the accident took place.
Naveed’s father, Shaik Abdul Sayeed, said the family learned about the accident from local police after trying to contact his son.
He appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to arrange emergency visas for family members so they could travel to the United States.
Majlis Bachao Tehreek spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan also met the grieving family and urged the External Affairs Ministry to facilitate the immediate issuance of emergency visas.
