Senior Congress leader and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday hit back at Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, who alleged that he had violated administrative norms by holding a review meeting with officials of the Endowments Department.
Speaking to reporters, Srihari said he was fully aware of the rules governing administrative procedures and had committed no wrongdoing. He said he had only sought solutions to issues affecting temples in his constituency.
Without naming Surekha, Srihari said some leaders were deliberately creating controversies to remain in the public spotlight.
“Some people are developing new habits. They want to stay in the public eye by creating controversies. I have done nothing wrong, so why should I offer any explanation?” he said.
Clarifying his actions, the MLA said he had not conducted an official departmental review meeting with Endowments officials.
“I did not hold a review meeting with Endowments Department officials. I only represented the problems faced by temples. If I summon officials to my office, it can be termed a review meeting. I am fully aware that I do not have the authority to review the Endowments Department,” Srihari said.
He explained that he had met the Endowments Commissioner only to discuss the development of temples in his constituency and seek solutions to pending issues.
“I met the Commissioner to discuss the development of temples in my constituency. If necessary, I will even meet the Chief Minister to resolve these issues,” he added.
The controversy erupted after Konda Surekha alleged on Tuesday that Srihari had convened a meeting with Endowments Department officials without her knowledge, describing it as a violation of the state’s Rules of Business governing administrative functioning.
She subsequently wrote to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy seeking action against the MLA, arguing that elected representatives should adhere to established administrative procedures.
Srihari’s response has now added a fresh twist to the controversy, which continues to draw political attention.
