Former Telangana minister and Medchal MLA Chamakura Malla Reddy has categorically denied speculation that he is planning to switch parties, asserting that he will remain with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
In a statement, Malla Reddy urged party workers and supporters not to believe rumours circulating on social media and in political circles about his possible defection.
He said he had complete faith in the BRS leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the party.
“I have worked for the party with dedication in the past and will continue to do so in the future. My only objective is to strengthen the BRS,” he said.
The rumours gained momentum after Malla Reddy attended Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s public meeting at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Ande Sri Smriti Vanam project in Ghatkesar.
At the same time, he remained absent from the BRS-organised Yuva Sangrama Sabha, leading to widespread political speculation.
His silence during the Chief Minister’s criticism of BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao also drew criticism from sections of party workers.
Many BRS supporters questioned why Malla Reddy neither objected to the remarks against KCR nor walked away from the stage.
The issue triggered intense debate on social media, with several party activists expressing dissatisfaction over his conduct.
The controversy further intensified after BRS General Secretary R. S. Praveen Kumar said that Malla Reddy’s actions had also surprised him.
Political circles have recently been abuzz with reports suggesting that Malla Reddy and members of his family were considering joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Earlier reports had also claimed that he had explored the possibility of joining the Congress, but those efforts allegedly did not materialise.
Sources, however, said Malla Reddy attended the government function purely in his capacity as the local MLA and as required under official protocol.
Despite that explanation, his silence at the event continued to fuel political debate.
Against this backdrop, his public declaration that he would remain in the BRS is being viewed as an attempt to put an end to the speculation.
Even so, many BRS supporters continue to argue that Malla Reddy should either have defended KCR when the Chief Minister criticised him or left the stage. The episode remains a subject of discussion within the party.
