Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president N. Ramchander Rao has categorically ruled out any electoral alliance for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, declaring that the party will contest the civic polls independently.
He said the BJP’s sole objective is to come to power in Telangana and strengthen its position as the principal political alternative in the state.
Ramchander Rao made the remarks after attending a meeting of senior Telangana BJP leaders with the party’s national president, Nitin Nabin, in New Delhi.
Addressing the media after the meeting, he outlined the party’s future strategy, organisational roadmap and campaign priorities.
Clarifying the BJP’s stand on alliances, Rao said that although the Jana Sena Party is a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance at the national level, any decision regarding electoral alliances in Telangana would rest with the party’s central leadership.
However, he reiterated that the BJP is preparing to contest the GHMC elections on its own.
The Telangana BJP chief said the party is rapidly expanding its organisational network across all 937 mandals in the state. He added that after the conclusion of the upcoming Assembly session, the party would convene another meeting of its MPs and MLAs to finalise its electoral strategy and organisational plans.
Expressing confidence about the party’s prospects, Ramchander Rao claimed that the BJP’s organisational structure in Telangana is stronger than that in states such as Odisha and West Bengal.
He said the party is determined to secure victory in the next elections and would intensify its campaign against what he described as the failures of the Congress government in Telangana.
He accused the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of widespread corruption and alleged that it had failed to fulfil the six guarantees promised to the people during the Assembly elections.
According to Rao, exposing these failures would form the core agenda of the BJP’s statewide agitation programme.
Ramchander Rao also disclosed that BJP national president Nitin Nabin had directed the Telangana unit to launch coordinated public agitations on issues affecting the people.
He said the party high command had instructed the state leadership to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for bringing the BJP to power in Telangana.
As part of the organisational review mechanism, Nitin Nabin is expected to visit Telangana once every three months to assess the party’s progress and guide its activities.
Dismissing speculation about internal divisions within the state BJP, Ramchander Rao asserted that there were no differences between senior leaders and those who had recently joined the party.
While acknowledging that differences of opinion may exist within any political party, he insisted that there were no internal conflicts affecting the BJP.
He further claimed that several prominent leaders from the Congress and other political parties were keen to join the BJP and were only waiting for an appropriate time to do so.
On the proposed delimitation exercise, Rao expressed confidence that the Delimitation Bill would receive Parliament’s approval and suggested that several opposition leaders could also extend their support to the legislation.
