Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday openly admitted that he had no hope of coming to power in Andhra Pradesh, and therefore there was no question of expecting to make it big in Telangana.
Speaking to reporters at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan said he was not driven by a desire for political power.
He said he had not shown much interest even when his party leaders repeatedly asked him to strengthen the party in Telangana.
“Andhra lone dikku ledu, Telangana lo adhikaram ela koratham? I have no scope to come to power even in Andhra Pradesh. Why would I seek power in Telangana? I am not in love with power, but with change,” he said.
However, Pawan Kalyan said his party would continue to remain active in Telangana and contest future elections in the state.
“Jana Sena will stay in Telangana. We will contest elections here, including the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. If necessary, I myself will tour Telangana. We will speak on every issue and fight every injustice,” he said.

He said the people of Telangana had supported him on several occasions and extended greetings to them on Telangana Formation Day.
He reiterated that he wished to see greater opportunities and development for Telangana’s youth.
“The people of Telangana have stood by me for many years. Jana Sena Party itself was established in the heart of Telangana,” he said.
The Jana Sena Party chief said he had travelled extensively across Telangana and accused some of his critics of lacking grassroots experience.
“Those criticising me today have not even travelled through the forests of Adilabad, but I did,” he said.
