As the Telangana high court on Friday is set to decide on the interim bail petition filed by Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar in a minor girl rape case, the victim’s mother cried foul saying the accused was allowed to move freely under political pressure.
In a detailed statement on Friday, the victim’s mother asserted that the identity of the minor girl was being withheld in accordance with the law.
She stated that the family’s intention was to secure protection, dignity and justice for the victim.
Describing themselves as a middle-class family with no political or financial influence, the victim’s mother clarified that the statement was not intended for revenge or publicity, but solely to seek justice.
She said the family felt compelled to speak out because “remaining silent was no longer an option.”
According to the statement, the minor girl informed her mother that she became acquainted with Bandi Bhagirath in 2025.
The mother alleged that Bhagirath distracted her daughter from academics and pressured her into a physical relationship.
She also referred to incidents that allegedly took place in Moinabad between the night of December 31, 2025, and the early hours of January 1, 2026.
The mother alleged that her daughter was pressured into consuming alcohol and was subjected to inappropriate behaviour while in a vulnerable condition.
The victim’s mother stated that the incidents left the girl traumatised, humiliated and emotionally distressed. She expressed hope that the ongoing investigation would bring the truth to light.
The family further claimed to possess chats, messages and electronic communication records related to the case.
According to the mother, Bhagirath had allegedly apologised in chats, emotionally pressured the victim and repeatedly insisted on physical intimacy.
She urged police to preserve all digital evidence and send it for forensic examination.
The mother also said the victim’s mental health deteriorated severely after a breakup in January. Once cheerful and active, the girl reportedly became withdrawn and emotionally distressed.
The mother claimed that the family received repeated calls from the accused during that period and alleged that Bhagirath’s messages caused severe emotional trauma to her daughter.
She stated that the family decided to pursue legal action during March and April 2026. However, they allegedly faced indirect pressure, attempts at compromise and requests not to proceed with the case.
The victim’s mother also expressed concern over attempts to divert attention toward age-related documents and alleged administrative discrepancies.
She clarified that corrections to date-of-birth records had been initiated even before the controversy surfaced.
She maintained that even if technical discrepancies existed in the documents, they did not diminish the suffering experienced by the victim.
She asserted that the legal protections available to a minor under the POCSO Act could not be denied.
The family, she said, continues to face intimidation, emotional stress and social media targeting. She appealed to the government to provide protection against threats and harassment.
The victim’s mother also urged the judiciary, investigative agencies, women’s commissions and child rights organisations to intervene and ensure a fair probe.
She appealed to police to preserve every piece of evidence in accordance with the law and conduct an independent investigation.
