A Hyderabad-based woman entrepreneur running an advertising agency has appealed directly to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for an appointment, alleging that she faced inappropriate behaviour while pursuing what she described as a lawful opportunity in the outdoor advertising sector.
In a fresh social media video addressed to the Chief Minister, K Shobha Reddy, proprietor of Mithuna Ads, said she had been trying for nearly three years to secure business opportunities and had submitted revenue-sharing proposals seeking temporary work until regular tenders were conducted.
She alleged that while attempting to place her grievance before the government, she approached a person whom she understood to be closely associated with the Chief Minister.
“What disturbed me most was this: while trying to place my genuine issue before the Government, I approached a person whom I understood to be closely associated with you, CM Sir. I was directly asked to come to a guest house to discuss my matter,” she said.
Shobha Reddy said she did not want to publicly name the person or turn the matter into a political controversy. She stressed that women entrepreneurs seeking legitimate business opportunities should be dealt with through transparent and dignified channels.
“I am not asking for any special favour, only a lawful opportunity, equal treatment and dignity,” she said.
She also urged people not to link her complaint to any political party or circulate names based on speculation. In a subsequent video, she said she had approached politicians, ministers, MLAs and MPs seeking help, but was repeatedly told that the issue ultimately related to the Chief Minister’s office.
“I am not party-affiliated. I am a woman running an advertising agency,” she said, adding that she had submitted representations to government departments including MAUD and GHMC.
The controversy has also brought renewed attention to an earlier police complaint filed by Shobha Reddy against advertising agency owner Vijay Reddy and others.
According to a report in The New Indian Express, Banjara Hills police registered a case after she alleged that she had been abused and threatened following complaints she made regarding illegal advertising boards and representations before the Lokayukta. She also alleged that political influence was invoked while threatening her.
Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat denied any involvement, saying Vijay Reddy was not his brother and that the dispute was between the two parties concerned.
The issue has now taken a political turn, with BRS general secretary and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar criticising the Telangana government and calling for the circumstances surrounding the alleged guest-house invitation to be examined.
He questioned who owned the guest house and who the person claiming proximity to the Chief Minister was, while urging women leaders to respond to Shobha Reddy’s complaint.
The BJP has also called for a probe into the allegations.
For now, Shobha Reddy’s central demand remains straightforward: she wants an opportunity to personally place her grievance before the Chief Minister and seeks what she describes as equal treatment, transparency and dignity.
The Telangana government has not yet issued an official response to the specific allegation.
