Hyderabad: YSR Congress has demanded the State Government to arrest the accused in the attack on a woman officer while she was discharging her duties and pooh-poohed at the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for working out a compromise formula which will set a wrong precedence.

“We demand that the concerned MLA should be arrested immediately and expedite the inquiry of all the cases he is facing. Chief Minister calling the perpetrator of the crime and the victim to his residence and working out a compromise sends a wrong signal and is a blot on the women empowerment of which TDP talks tall,” party MLA RK Roja and K Parthasarathi told media in separate press conferences.

Showing the videos of the Chandrababu Naidu giving assurance to the women during electioneering about their safety, the YSRCP has questioned his veracity in trying to sweep the issue under the carpet as the MRO Vanajakshi seems to be under pressure from the high office after the meeting.

“We have seen, how Boyapati Sudha Rani was humbled when she raised her voice against the land acquisition, the transfer of Intelligence DG Anuradha after the cash for vote scam broke out, the rude manner in which police behaved with the fledgling MLA Akhila Priya and now the attack on a woman MRO who has magisterial powers.

This is the empowerment Chandrababu Naidu is giving to women. The MLA who attacked the MRO should be immediately arrested and all the cases he is facing should be expedited,’ they said.

While the case was dragged to the compromise table, our Party MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy was arrested on the spot and false cases were foisted on him. The state has been using the SC, ST case to its advantage and to harass the political adversaries. Moreover officers on duty need not necessarily work on the lines of their social status, they said.

“What Chief Minster has done is sending wrong signals and this is not a good practice in a parliamentary democracy. It is obvious that pressure was mounted on the concerned official instead of taking action against the MLA Ch Prabhakar,” they said and demanded immediate action against the erring MLA.
