S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus Varanasi continues to build massive buzz across the globe.
Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has already grabbed attention with its grand first glimpse unveiled at Le Grand Rex in Europe, where it received a thunderous response from audiences.
The film also made a strong impression at the Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, where producer S. S. Karthikeya shared interesting insights about the project.
Speaking at the event, Karthikeya revealed that Varanasi includes nearly 20 minutes inspired by the Ramayana, highlighting the film’s deep cultural roots.
He drew parallels between Indian storytelling and Mexican narratives, noting that both cultures heavily draw from their historical and mythological traditions.
Karthikeya also spoke about the warm reception in Mexico, saying the cultural similarities from food and spices to strong family values make the film relatable to international audiences.
He emphasised that family emotions form a core part of Varanasi, which could resonate widely.
Meanwhile, the film’s character reveals have already taken social media by storm.
Mahesh Babu’s intense look as Rudhra, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s fierce avatar as Kumbha, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s commanding presence as Mandakini have significantly raised expectations.
With anticipation reaching a fever pitch, Varanasi is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on April 7, 2027, and is being touted as one of the biggest cinematic spectacles from Indian cinema.
